Non-equilibrium flow of van der Waals fluids in nano-channels

The Enskog–Vlasov equation provides a consistent description of the microscopic molecular interactions for real fluids based on kinetic and mean-field theories. fluid flows in nano-channels are investigated by Bhatnagar–Gross–Krook (BGK) type model, which simplifies complicated collision operator enables large-scale engineering design simulations. density distributions found to exhibit inhomogeneities across nano-channel, particularly at large densities, as direct consequence inhomogeneous force caused effects including molecules' volume exclusion long-range attraction. In contrast Navier–Stokes with slip boundary condition, fails describe nano-scale due coexistence confinement, non-equilibrium, effects, Enskog–Vlasov–BGK model is capture these accurately confirmed corresponding dynamics simulations low moderate densities.
